Early Education Fellowship for Inclusion, Equity, and Belonging
Our vision is to support leaders who serve children in the early years who are furthest from educational justice by identifying, nurturing, and building leadership capacity in existing and future education leaders who interact with children in their first ten years of life.

About the Early Education Fellowship
Cultivate Learning at the University of Washington’s College of Education is excited to launch the Early Education Fellowship for Inclusion, Equity, and Belonging.
This program aims to foster a sense of belonging in school for both children and their families and to increase access to equitable and excellent teaching and learning.
Program Overview
This 12-month fully funded program is committed to serving Washington state principals, directors, assistant superintendents, superintendents, and those in similar roles by:
- Explaining early educational research and data
- Promoting effective leadership skills focused on inclusion and equity
- Showing leaders how to support the workforce, family partnerships, and inclusive environments for all students (ages 3 to 10)
By identifying, nurturing, and supporting effective leadership practices for those who oversee the quality of early education, this program will focus on research, data, and application in three areas:
- Inclusive and Equitable Practices
- Family Engagement and Partnership
- Health and Wellness for leaders, staff and communities
Leaders also can visit and engage with demonstration schools across Washington state that lead the way with inclusive supports and equitable practices.
Program Details
The Early Education Fellowship program is a one-year fellowship that will start in the Fall of 2024. Within the fellowship year, participants are expected to participate in the full range of the program.
All fellows will receive clock hours for their participation.
